The Teachings

This summer Rinpoche has provided the following themes for his teaching programs at all Gomdes. Rinpoche will decide at each venue which theme or combination of themes he will use when he is here.

Tibetan Buddhism acknowledges three distinct ways of cultivating learning, reflection, and meditation:
1) Studies of the view
2) Meditation based on direct instruction
3) The transfer of blessings

Ngakso Puja – Ocean of Amrita
In addition to the teachings there will be the Ngakso Puja – Ocean of Amrita  - a full day mending and purification ritual on Sunday  August 25, 2018 – Dakini Day. Further details below.

We anticipate that Lama Tenzin and Lama Oser and will both be here for the seminar and offer teachings and practice guidance.

Rinpoche, Lama Tenzin and Lama Oser offer their teachings freely. Following tradition, participants may show their appreciation of the teachings through donation. Recognising the priceless nature of liberating instructions each person is welcome to offer as much as they wish.

Further details: The Day Long Ngakso Puja - Ocean of Amrita Sunday 25 August - Dakini Day

This is a special enhancement, mending and purification practice revealed by the terton Chogkyur Lingpa and revived by the great meditation master Tulku Urgyen Rinpoche. The practice can be performed as a day long puja or a 9 day ‘Drubchen’- Great Accomplishment. It’s purpose is to clear our spiritual path of hindrances and create meritorious circumstances for all our spiritual practice to flourish; in this respect it is seen as a preparation for, and enhancement of, Dzogchen practice.

This practice is rarely performed in the west and provides a unique opportunity for Buddhist practitioners.
It is possible to attend the Ngakso Puja as a stand alone event.
An extract from Tulku Urgyen Rinpoche´s teachings on the Ngakso Drubchen in 1984: "The drubchen we are engaged in now is called Ngakso or Ngak kyi Sojong, which means Vajrayana Mending and Purification. In the title Ngakyi Sojong, the word ‘so’ means mending, reviving, restoring or increasing merit. Basically it is a Vajrayana practice of mending and purification, though it also includes mending and purification practices in accordance with all four vehicles – namely, the Hinayana (consisting of the two vehicles of shravaka and pratyekabuddha), the Mahayana, and the Vajrayana systems.

What we are mending are the pratimoksha precepts (the vows of individual liberation), in accordance with the Hinayana system, the bodhisattva trainings, in accordance with the Mahayana system, and the samaya commitments, in accordance with the Vajrayana system. This practice restores these commitments. The word jong means purification. What we purify are breaches of our Hinayana vows, faults in our Mahayana training, and violations of our Vajrayana samayas. The main focus of the practice is that the world around us, whatever appears and exists, is a celestial palace, while the male and female sentient beings are all dakas and dakinis. All sounds are mantra, and all thoughts and emotions are pure wisdom. This is the key point of this drubchen, the great accomplishment: pure sights, sounds and awareness. This means whatever we see with our eyes is the pure form of the deity. Whatever we hear with our ears is the sound of mantra. And whatever we think — all our thoughts and mental activity — is actually the enlightened Vajra Mind, the self-existing wisdom. This is what to keep in mind."
