Volunteer Co-ordinator & HR/ Administrative Support - LIVE IN
Gomde UK, Buddhist Centre

Job description

Gomde UK is a centre for the study and practice of Tibetan Buddhism and for the development of environmental Buddhism. You don’t need to be a practicing Buddhist to join our team, but you must be committed to making the community a success based on our Buddhist principles and values.

Responsibilities:
We are seeking an inspiring individual to manage and expand our existing pool of volunteers, to establish and develop local networks and to provide core HR support. You’ll be responsible for supporting staff in assessing and managing the contributions of volunteers. You’ll have opportunity to create, implement, and manage HR & Operational Systems & Procedures (TOIL, holidays, shared calendars, etc). You’ll contribute to new initiatives and projects in key operational areas.

This role has been designed to meet the needs of our developing centre. We are a small staff team, working within a unique and inspiring setting. It is an opportunity for someone with combined expertise – across people skills, administrative and organisational skills, to gain valuable experience and insight across a range of areas.

Salary: £14,809
Please note: the live in statutory offset for accommodation of £7.00 per day will be deducted from this salary.
Location: Lindholme Hall, South Yorkshire
Hours: 35 hours per week
Contract: Temporary Contract for 12 months (with possible extension)

COMMUNITY COOK: LIVE IN or LIVE OUT
Gomde UK, Tibetan Buddhist Centre

Gomde UK, is a centre for the study and practice of Tibetan Buddhism and for the development of environmental Buddhism. You don’t need to be a practicing Buddhist to join our thriving community, but you must be committed to making the community a success based on our Buddhist values centred on Calmness, Kindness, and Clarity.

We are seeking a passionate and skilled cook with particular skills in vegetarian cooking. Our live-in cook will be responsible for preparing lunch and dinner five days a week for up to 25 people. You will also support the session cooks during large events and work with day volunteers who help in the kitchen.

Key tasks include creating meal plans, working within a budget, responding to differing dietary needs, ordering and managing stock effectively to minimise waste and working with the garden team to utilise all fresh produce. You will keep all keep relevant paperwork (including cleaning reports, fridge temperatures etc) and keep kitchen and equipment up to Health & Safety and food hygiene standards.

The successful candidate will have experience of cooking for larger numbers of people, managing a kitchen effectively and working harmoniously as part of a team.

You must have Food Hygiene Certificate Level 2, and an understanding of COSHH and HACCP systems.

Salary £8.14 per hour
Please note: the live in statutory offset for accommodation of £7.00 per day will be deducted from this salary if you are Live -In.

Hours Flexible hours between 20- 35 hours per week depending on season. Core season
April- November. Working hours planned in advance
Contract Temporary Contract for 12 months (with possible extension).
5.6 weeks holiday per annum
